Overview
Only rich students go to study in America? Not really. Studying in America is possible for everyone. Over the last two admission seasons (2004-2005 and 2005-2006), VietAbroader has witnessed around 100 Vietnamese high school students winning scholarship to a wide range of colleges and universities in the United States. The actual number is probably even greater. Many schools award full financial aid package (approx. $40,000 per year) – that means four years of study will be absolutely free for you!
The important fact is: the highly selective schools in the United States tend to have more money for scholarships and they are more willing to give to international students including those from Vietnam.
VietAbroader Scholar Program's goal is identical with VietAbroader's: help you achieve your dream of studying in the United States, regardless of your financial background.
Based on our experience and observation, we believe that, the more preparation and the earlier you start, the higher your chance of success.
Goals
VietAbroader will pair you up with one current college student who will provide support and training to you throughout high school years. In particular, we look to:
-Help students identify their own passions, goals, strengths, and weaknesses
-Equip you with insider's knowledge about U.S. admissions and financial aid
-Assist you in preparing for SATI, SATII, and TOEFL
-Sharpen your writing skills
-Provide leadership and extracurricular opportunities during school year and summer
-Personalize strategic plans to meet your academic and personal needs
All these prove significant to your application for admission to colleges and universities in the United States as well as all of your future endeavors.
Eligibility:
Applicants must:
-be a Vietnamese student enrolled in 10th or 11th grades in high schools in Vietnam (i.e. Vietnamese students studying abroad are not eligible.)
-have demonstrated intellectual interests
-possess an unwavering passion to study abroad
-are ready to take on community and leadership opportunities
-are willing to work very, very hard to achieve their goals
Why VietAbroader Scholar Program?
-Receive SAT books for free.
-Establish lifelong friendship with overseas Vietnamese students.
-Receive one-to-one training and advice in academic success, personal development and college preparation from college students.
-Early acceptance into VietAbroader Conference .
-Opportunity to participate in service-learning projects organized by students from Stanford and other schools.
-You will be the first to know any inside news regarding admissions and scholarships.
-Future references to colleges you apply.
-Have fun! Your mentors are just like you. Young. Energetic. Passionate. Hilarious.

Application Requirement:
Complete and email the VietAbroader Scholar Program application to [email protected] by May 10 2006. Note that we use Rolling Admission – the earlier you apply, the sooner you will hear from us!
After reading the applications, members of the Committee will interview a limited number of students before making final decisions.
