1. Xem phim teen: American Pie, Not Another Teen Movie, etc. (không phải phim ... vì những phim này rất đơn giản, dễ nghe, từ dùng lặp lại, hầu như không có conversation tử tế, I'm serious )
2. Chơi Final Fantasy.

>- you whizkid

3. Never compare yourself to anyone else. They're on their roads and you're on yours. Just keep going. You'll sure get there.
that's what hits the road (wonder if my idiom exists in the dicts :">)
factually (another invention
), I became absorbed into the language since kindergarten :x, from the very 1st question while i was playing Famicom video games - what the hell do the weird words on the screen mean? and so as I learn the ABCs of English, I got more and more excited. For most of my preteens I self-learn it, with only occasional help of my dad + teachers
but now... the truth is bittersweet
) I no longer feel like I'm into it as I used to be. Losing a big part of your interest is one major reason which slows down your learning progress. It is the real experience I've been through, right in my high school years, up to now, and I'm not sure when my boredom ends
So what is the spell? Do something new, something you badly want to try as long as it has things to do with English
That will more or less polish what your head haven't triggered for ages. Definitely. Do *anything* you like. After a while, try summing up what you have done and pick out which is best for you.
Here are a couple of stuff works for me, I think:
1. yeah!!! watch movies to update the spoken language. (I remarked what Cường said
)) If you want to improve your verbal style, then teen movies is a great choice. But only let the nice words into ur mind. Abusing crude humor is no good at all.
2. For 10 & 11th graders: play RPG games like Final Fantasy (not Japanese versions, for God's sake). Will take time but worth the effort >> won't recommend this to prospective 12th grade folks
Great fun, though some gamers complain FF as being too wordy to understand. Who cares? Whatever u say, I love everything about the classic FF series :x
3. BOOKS! READ THEM! A must for all E learners with all purposes. Not only does it increase ur reading skill but it also helps with ur concentration and critical thinking (absolutely necessary for future test-takers - including IELTS, TOEFL and even SAT). Sort out what suits your goals (eg, if you want to take standardized language exams, put aside the literature works). One ideal book source is from the British Council Information Centre, where I drop in 2 or 3 times a week.
4. Surf the net (of course, within a reasonable limit and look for appropriate content), read texts, type forum posts in English. Like what i'm doing now, huh?
5. Watch TV or turn on the radio. Should I tell you exactly what to do? Oh, you don't really want me to. Just make sure you pay attention to the programs and not exert urself too much. After all, you can't learn a language in just one night
6. M.U.S.I.C - my pastime :x :x :x Listen to these wonderful sounds every day, taste with every sense, not forgetting to catch the lyrics. I suggest you hear the songs carefully for several times, then search the lyrics to check again. Support your listening abilities a lot besides the telly or the radio box ^^
ummm.... guess that's enough for now! Time to snooze |-)
